Free live music coming up April-October during Downtown Downbeat concert series

The Great American Brass Band Festival – in cooperation with the Danville/Boyle County Chamber of Commerce and the Danville-Boyle County Tourism Office – is proud to announce a new concert series coming to downtown Danville.

Presented by Farmer’s National Bank, the City of Danville, and the Boyle County Fiscal Court, Downtown Downbeat (as it is called) is a new way to hear music in Danville that combines live music and local talent with the Main Street vibe. Come downtown on the first Thursday from April through October to enjoy all that Main Street has to offer – including food, drinks, and shopping – with the addition of local talent and live music. Starting at 6 p.m., head to Constitution Square to experience and support a local act, which will range from theater acts to choirs, musical duos, storytelling, and more.

Following the act at Constitution Square, head over to Weisiger Park and hear the main band from 7-9 p.m. Each month’s featured band will represent the best of Kentucky music and musicians and will display all genres. From bluegrass and country to soul and the blues, each band will have something different to offer and can be enjoyed by all.

This free event is meant to encourage folks to buy, shop, and eat local. Attendees can come to Main Street and enjoy food and drink while sharing the joy of music with others and their families.

“Our goal of this event is to continue to share music with Kentuckians on a yearly basis and not just indulge ourselves once a year during the Great American Brass Band Festival, even though it is still the most fun all year. There’s no better place to share in community fun than on Main Street where you can support local businesses and restaurants while enjoying music at the same time. This is a win for everybody,” said Michaelle Perros, Executive Director of the Great American Brass Band Festival.

Join in from 6-9 pm for Downtown Downbeat on the following dates: April 6, May 4, June 1, July 6, August 3, September 7, and October 5
