Time for a detour in Danville. On Wednesday, May 4 at 6 p.m., you can join in the Blue Grass Trust’s detour of the Pioneer Playhouse, founded in 1950 by Colonel Eben C. Henson. It is Kentucky’s oldest outdoor theatre and one of the oldest continuously operating summer stock theatres in the United States where actors like John Travolta, Lee Majors and Jim Varney got their starts. The theatre’s 73rd season begins in June, but you can take the free DeTour and learn more of the history before attending a performance this summer.
