      Danville was the setting for the 1956 film ''Raintree County'' based on a novel by Ross Lockridge Jr. This Civil War era film was one of the highest budgeted films of its day and starred Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor, Eva Marie Saint and Lee Marvin. Danville was one prominent location for the film. The Pioneer Playhouse is home not only to the display beautifully commemorating the film, but also part of the set! The ticketing office is the railway station from the set of the film, acquired by Eben Henson after the filming!
