Battle of Perryville Commemoration
- Events & Festivals
On Oct. 8, 1862, the Perryville battlefield was the site of the bloodiest Civil War battle fought in Kentucky. Each year, thousands of guests visit the site to watch a re-enactment of that clash, where re-enactors demonstrate military maneuvers that were used in the battle. There are living history encampments, a lecture series, book presenters, antique and vendor tents, a Commemoration Parade, ghost tours, Period Social and a ''Taste of 1862'' dinner featuring an authentic meal prepared over an open fire. Other fun activities include a barbecue cook off, beauty pageant, fun run, street dance, live music, and more.
