We invite you to visit Danville, KY and Boyle County and experience our treasure trove of historic sites, scenic bluegrass vistas and cultural assets. Whether you visit our idyllic Main Street in Danville; the Civil War Battlefield and Merchant’s Row in Perryville; or the Knobs and natural beauty of Forkland; you will see why Boyle County is where “Preservation meets Progress.” We invite you to come and discover why “it’s better here”.
This month, Danville’s first craft distillery will be open for tours.
Wilderness Trace Distillery will be a unique stop along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour®, and will offer tours designed for those looking to experience the very core of bourbon making. The tours will focus on the science and craft of how alcohol is distilled.
Wilderness Trace Distillery’s quality spirits such as bourbon, rye whiskey, vodka and rum are all handcrafted, using grains from a local family farm, pure limestone filtered water and an all-copper pot still and columns. Bourbon is made from scratch, using a rare, sweet mash process that is handcrafted each time in order to get the best flavors from the fermentation process. Sweet mash produces a softer spirit that highlights more of the grain flavors and charred barrel extracts; and it requires less remediation aging than sour mash grain processes.
Wilderness Trace Distillery will offer the following spirits — Wilderness Trace Bourbon Whiskey, Settlers Select Danville’s Rye Whiskey, Blue Heron Vodka, and Harvest Rum.
With every Kentucky Bourbon Trail® distillery within a 90-minute drive, Danville is the perfect hub for your bourbon experience. After you have toured Wilderness Trace Distillery, visit our many unique attractions, shops, and locally owned restaurants. Sample premium bourbons at Wayne & Jane’s Whiskey & Wine Bar, or check out one of our microbreweries. Make it a weekend getaway and stay in one of our many hotels or charming B&Bs.
