Summers in Danville, Kentucky, aren’t complete without a night out at Pioneer Playhouse, Kentucky’s oldest outdoor theatre. Here are the three shows we’re most looking forward to seeing:

    One Slight Hitch

    (June 5 – 20)
oneslighthitch_smallWritten by Lewis Black, a regular performer on Jon Stewart’s Daily Show, this wedding-day comedy features the misadventures of a bride-to-be and her loose cannon of an ex-boyfriend. We look forward to seeing what kind of smart-aleck dialogue and hilarious situations this show has in store! Get tickets here.

    Grounded

    (July 7 -18)
grounded_correllThe world premiere of this play, adapted from the novel by seventh generation central Kentuckian Angela Correll, is sure to be big. This play tells the story of a big-city woman suddenly ending up in small-town Kentucky, where she has a lot to learn about farm life, family, and love. We’re excited to see our little corner of the world brought to life on the Playhouse stage! Get tickets here.

    (August 4-15)
The premise of this play is irresistible—a 1960’s Paris playboy juggling three fiancées (all of whom are airline stewardesses with frequent layovers) is suddenly in hot water when all three of their schedules unexpectedly change. Who doesn’t love the frantic antics of a man and his strong-willed love interests? Get tickets here.

These are just three of the six performances going on all summer long at the playhouse. See the full performance schedule and get ticket information at www.pioneerplayhouse.com.

    About the Playhouse

Pioneer Playhouse is Kentucky’s oldest outdoor theatre—the tight-knit and passionate Henson family has been putting on shows under the stars there since 1950. The sprawling theatre grounds hearken back to a pioneer village and were even part of the set of Raintree County. The playhouse offers dinner before each show, featuring Kentucky Proud ingredients. After dinner, guests can grab some popcorn, file into the outdoor auditorium, and enjoy an entertaining evening of theatre under the stars—and a true Kentucky experience!
